"WE LOVE TO GUITARTAIN YOU“
Tens of thousands of concertgoers, 40,000 records sold, standing ovations wherever they perform, millions of views on Instagram & YouTube, a cult following like rockstars – welcome to Café del Mundo, the hottest guitar act around.
Two guitarists, a special connection, a unique sound
Their shared love for Paco de Lucía brought Alex and Jan together at a workshop. What followed was a decade of intense collaboration, a vast and inspiring journey beyond all genre boundaries.
Today, Café del Mundo has truly arrived. The two musicians from Southern Germany fill concert halls around the world, touch hearts with their sound, and captivate a wide audience.
They collaborate with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, produce at Abbey Road Studios in London, and fill both venues and souls—even in Andalusia. With “RadioTon unplugged,” Alex and Jan host their own daily radio show.
Café del Mundo is pure joy of life. Alex and Jan have mastered the art of true crossover, of real connection—with themselves and their audience. This is how the magic is created that continues to resonate long after the last note.
“Audibly boundless” – this is what the guitar sounds like today.
“LIKE A BLOCKBUSTER”
(Oliver Hochkeppel, Süddeutsche Zeitung)
“They are fundamentally as different as fire and water – and it’s precisely this contrast that makes them a world-class music act.
Their joint live performance is a captivating dialogue between two gifted virtuosos who at times caress, at times challenge one another, drawing out the very best in each other – intense and explosive, a magical aura emerges that no one can resist.”
(Dr. Markus Grimm)
THE POET WITH A FEEL FOR MELODY
He receives his first guitar from his grandfather in Spain, and his first lessons from an uncle. He learns to walk in Brittany, and is raised by his Silesian grandmother Edeltraud Bonk (a soprano and church musician), for whom he writes his first guitar song at the age of six.
He attends a Benedictine boarding school, flees after two years, founds his own recording studio at the age of 20, arranges, composes, and finds his own unique sound in flamenco guitar.
FROM CHILD PRODIGY TO ROCKSTAR
He receives his multicultural musical training from Zaza Miminoshvili. At the age of 15, he wins his first international competition with the piece “Guajiras de Lucia” by Paco de Lucía. This is followed by numerous masterclasses and concert invitations to Israel, Russia, Georgia, Spain, and Italy.
In 2011, he earns his artistic diploma in jazz guitar – which he has never picked up again since.
Two chairs, two guitars, and two microphones –
that’s all guitarists Jan Pascal and Alexander Kilian need to touch hearts, enchant audiences, bring people to their feet, and release a flood of emotions beyond all boundaries. Café del Mundo plays a truly unique sound.
Their perfectly synchronized guitars radiate, from the very first note, that southern zest for life – celebrating existence while deeply moving the soul. This is what the guitar sounds like today!
